We aim to provide high quality medical care to ensure the best diagnostic and treatment outcomes for our patients.
We run a paperless practice where our appointment system and patient records are computerised with a direct link to Medicare for Bulk Billing.
Our patient database is maintained in a secure environment and is backed up off-site.
Our premises are designed for patient comfort. We have 4 Consulting Suites, one Dental Suite, a Medical Treatment Room, Pathology Room, disabled access and facilities. The air-conditioned waiting room is furnished with comfortable seating, television and health-related literature for patient information.
Our practice employs a Practice Nurse to assist with patient care. As assistant to our doctors, a number of procedures are carried out by our practice nurse, such as wound care, vaccinations, cryotherapy, adult and childhood health checks, etc.
Our patients also have access to Allied Health Professionals who are available, on site, by appointment.

We also provide an After Hours Locum Service, which means our patients can have access to quality medical care 24 hours a day. Our telephones are automatically diverted to this service outside clinic hours, or the service can be contacted directly by telephoning (03) 9429 5677.

In order to minimise patient exposure during COVID-19, Doctors of Lalor offers telephone consultations to patients whenever possible.
Allied Health practitioners also offer teleconsultations in some instances. Please check with your practitioner whether they can facilitate telehealth consultations.
The clinic has ZERO tolerance for aggressive or abusive behaviour towards staff and patients. Offenders will be ejected from the clinic and refused future access. Where necessary, the police will be asked to intervene.
We appreciate patients ensuring their children are well-behaved while in the waiting room to avoid causing distress to others who may be feeling unwell.
We also appreciate patients’ consideration with regard to noise. Our receptionists are often on the telephone, and it is difficult for them to properly execute their duties in a noisy environment.
We see patients by appointment and, where possible, we will try to accommodate those without an appointment, although they may be required to wait. Emergency patients are given priority at all times, and this means that patients with appointments may experience delays in seeing the doctor.
Wherever possible, we appreciate 24 hours’ notice for cancellation of appointments.
Home visits are available for house-bound patients by prior arrangement with the doctor. This is entirely at the doctor’s discretion and dependent on his availability at the required time.
Patient records are strictly confidential, and clinic staff members adhere to privacy legislation. Privileged patient information is shared, as required, with other health professionals by whom the patient is being treated.
Patient test results are downloaded electronically whenever possible. Test results are not given by receptionists, and patients need to make an appointment with the doctor to obtain results. Patients are contacted by telephone (or by mail) by clinic staff should test results require them to discuss outcomes with the doctor.
Where the doctor determines that the test results require urgent attention, the patient is given an appointment on the same day.
Patients presenting as emergencies must alert reception staff if they experience any of the following symptoms, as this will assist staff in assessing the situation and alerting the doctor:
Those patients presenting with serious symptoms that cannot be treated at the clinic will be referred to the emergency department of the local hospital. It is sometimes advisable to proceed directly to the hospital emergency department if you experience serious symptoms while at home. Explaining your situation to our staff will help them to determine whether it is best for you to proceed to hospital or make an appointment for you to see the doctor.
Childhood immunisations are provided free of charge for eligible Australian residents and visitors eligible for reciprocal Medicare benefits. Other patients will need to pay for vaccines. Prices are available at reception.
Flu vaccinations are free of charge to eligible patients over the age of 65 or those with chronic illnesses. Other patients will need to pay for the flu vaccine, and prices are available at reception.
Covid-19 vaccinations are government funded and free to all patients.
Medicare Bulk Billing is available for all medical patients, including those who access our Locum Service after hours.
Private patients, such as overseas visitors, are also billed at the Schedule Fee rate, but we require them to settle their account after visiting the doctor.
Completion of patient forms, such as employer medical assessments, insurance forms, Centrelink forms, etc, which do not attract a Medicare benefit are billed privately and patients are required to pay for this service. A sign outlining the cost of the more commonly used forms is displayed at Reception.
Iron Infusions are also billed privately. Full details of the costs and clinical requirements are available at reception.
Fees of Allied Health Practitioners such as dentists, psychologists and others are payable on the day of service.
Those patients with private health insurance will be processed through HICAPS which pays the fund benefit and the patient needs to pay only the outstanding ‘gap’ amount.
Those patients who are eligible for a Care Plan due to chronic illness will be bulk billed under Medicare by Allied Health Practitioners for the allowed number of visits on the Care Plan. Our Practitioners charge a modest out-of-pocket cost.
Dental Treatment is not available as part of a Care Plan – there are no Medicare benefits for dental services, and costs incurred for dental treatment must be paid at time of service. However, Medicare provides limited benefits under the Child Dental Benefit Schedule for children aged under 17. The Medicare Child Dental Benefit Voucher is valued at $1,013 for eligible persons. Please refer to the Adtech Dental Lab / Holistic & Cosmetic Dental website for more information.
